El temps verbal Present Perfect sol traduir amb el temps verbal en espanyol pretèrit perfecte compost. No obstant això, no tenen el mateix significat ni s'utilitzen en les mateixes situacions.
El Present Perfect s'utilitza per assenyalar una acció que té un vincle tant amb el present i el passat.
estructura:
- Subjecte + Verb to have conjugat + participi passat
Ex. He has played played (Ell ha jugat.)

negatiu:
- Subjecte + (verb to have conjugat) + not (o abreujament) + participi passat.
Ex. He has not played. (Ell no ha jugat.)
pregunta:
- Verb to have conjugat + subjecte + participi passat
Ex. Has he played? (Heu jugat?)
El participi passat (past participle) es forma amb l'arrel de l'verb més la terminació -ed. No obstant això, hi ha alguns verbs irregulars que tenen formes específiques, diferents als altres.
Quan es fa servir el Present Perfect?
El present perfect s'utilitza quan es vol descriure alguna d'aquestes situacions:
- L'acció iniciada en el passat continua en el present. exemple: He has played tennis all his life. (Ell ha jugat a l'tennis tota la vida.) El que s'infereix de l'oració de l'exemple és que encara juga a l'tennis. L'acció es realitza durant un període de temps que no va concloure. exemple: I have failed two tests this semester. (He fallat en dos examinis aquest semestre.) El semestre encara no ha acabat.
- L'acció s'ha repetit en el passat, en un temps inespecífic. exemple:I have fixed that car too many times. (He reparat aquest cotxe massa vegades.)
- L'acció és important per les seves conseqüències, no de moment en què va succeir. exemple: Of course I have seen that movie. (Per descomptat que he vist aquesta pel·lícula.)
Exemples d'oracions en Present Perfect
- We have lived in this house for over twenty years. (Hem viscut en aquesta casa per més de vint anys.)
- She has never been to Florida. (Mai ha estat a Florida.)
- I'ma bored; I have seen this film a thousand times. (M'avorreixo; he vist aquesta pel·lícula mil vegades.)
- You have given up hope. (Has perdut la fe.)
- I'vei lost my keys. (He perdut les meves claus.)
- We have spoken about this issue in numerous Occasions. (Hem parlat d'aquest tema en nombroses oportunitats.)
- The project has cost them oven five thousand dollars. (El projecte els ha costat més de cinc mil dòlars.)
- Have you ever been to Poland? (Alguna vegada has estat a Polònia?)
- We'veu become friends over the year. (Ens hem fet amics amb els anys.)
- I'vei learned this recipe by heart. (He après aquesta recepta de memòria.)
- We have been here before. (Hem estat aquí abans.)
- I have not learned a single thing in this class. (No he après ni una sola cosa en aquesta classe.)
- He has developed a fine taste in wine. (Ha desenvolupat un delicat gust pel vi.)
- The boss has already been informed. (El cap ja ha estat informat.)
- I have worked for the company before. (He treballat abans per a l'empresa.)
- Hung up, you I'veu been on the phone for two hours. (Talla el telèfon, has estat parlant per dues hores.)
- He has helped you before. (Ell t'ha ajudat abans.)
- You still have not seen the worst part. (Encara no has vist la pitjor part.)
- Have you seen my dog? (Has vist el meu gos?)
- Scientist have discovered a new curi for the disease. (Els científics han trobat una nova cura per a la malaltia.)
- I'vei played that game before, I do not like it. (He jugat a aquest joc abans, no m'agrada.)
- I have not found the time to do it usuaris. (No he trobat el temps per fer-ho encara.)
- What have you done? (Què has fet?)
- We can get in their system, John has broken the code. (Podem entrar en el sistema, John ha desxifrat el codi.)
- He has become a very successful doctor. (Ell s'ha convertit en un metge exitós.)
- She has been cooking all morning. (Ha estat cuinant tot el matí.)
- Have you checked this data before printing? (Has confirmat aquestes dades abans d'imprimir-lo?)
- They have been off and on the relationship for months. (Han estat entrant i sortint de la relació durant mesos.)
- I have seen what he cant. (He vist el que pot fer.)

- I'ma not shocked, I have seen worse. (No estic sorpresa, he vist coses pitjors.)
- You have not changed at all since the last time I saw you. (No has canviat ni una mica des de l'última vegada que et vaig veure.)
- I have seen that kid before, but I do not remember his name. (He vist aquest nen abans, però no recordo el seu nom.)
- Give the toy to your brother; you have played with it for hours. (Dóna-li la joguina al teu germà; has jugat amb ell durant hores.)
