L'idioma anglès té diversos verbs auxiliars, és a dir verbs que no poden utilitzar-se sense un verb principal. entre ells "Will" és un verb modal auxiliar que s'utilitza per construir el futur simple amb un verb. El futur simple és un temps verbal per a les accions que succeiran en el futur.

Will i will not no tenen traducció en català. la paraula will té el significat de "Voluntat", però no és aquest sentit qual pren aquí.
La construcció de el futur simple en anglès és:
subjecte + will + verb en infinitiu.
Per assenyalar que una acció no succeirà en el futur, s'utilitza el negatiu de will: will not, La versió abreujada és "will not”.

Tercera persona del singular
A diferència d'altres verbs auxiliars com do o have, will no canvia a l'utilitzar-se amb la tercera persona del singular (he, she o it). Això es deu al fet que és un verb modal, és a dir que no es conjuga.
