“There is"I"There are"Són expressions que en anglès es fan servir per indicar la presència d'alguna cosa. El lloc on es troba aquest objecte o aquesta persona pot ser especificat en la frase o no, ja que també pot utilitzar-se aquesta expressió per assenyalar l'existència d'alguna cosa en general com "hi ha actuacions més ràpids que aquest" o "hi ha plantes que mengen insectes ".
La diferència entre there is i there are és que el primer s'utilitza per assenyalar la presència o existència d'un objecte en singular, mentre que there are s'utilitza per assenyalar la presència o existència de dos o més objectes de el mateix tipus.
La contracció pot utilitzar-se amb there is (there 's) Però rarament s'utilitza amb there are (there'RE).
